Lapis was loved by the Ancient Egyptians. In paintings and scrolls, this gemstone is often seen adorning the Pharaohs, Queens, and Goddesses. It wasn’t just used as a jewel. It was also ground down to create the traditional ultramarine blue pigment that was used in paintings, pottery, clothing and even eyeshadow.
